I m planing to go tri-fire I have a triple screen setup. However this means I need duel slot cards. On scans web site it shows the ASUS directcu2 6950 as a duel slot card but i think it's a three slot, I ve seen the power colour on ebuyer at a good price. I also noticed that the ASUS card can t be unlocked(not sure if that's true?). So is the power colour card my best bet?. Want a better than stock cooler

Dont quote me on this but im pretty sure the asus card you were talking about is 3pci slots.

Ive heard great things about 6990+6970/6950 CF set up. just something to think about if you have the $ to spring.

U can't unlock the Asus DCII. Just get a reference one with bios switch. I personally prefer Asus/Gigabyte/Sapphire brand myself. The only card that can be unlocked without the stock cooler is the Twin Frorz III afaik.

I looked at the ASUS card and the MSI online and didn't see a BIOS switch on either card.

want to buy the 6950 Twin Frorz III, but i can't find anyone in the uk that sells it. I dont want to wait too long in case they prevent unlocking of new 6950s.

best i can see in stock at the moment is

powercolor isnt bad. had some bad luck with their 5850s initially, but their US rma service is solid, dono about euro

I had a 4870 fit perfectly into my Midtower case. I got a 6950 and it is about 2 inches longer. It does have 2 gigs of ram on it so that is probably why but be carful, it is huge. Side note, the memory clock is faster on the 6950 than it is on the 6990. The 6990 does 5.0Gps while the 6950 does 5.5 and is about 300.00 dollars cheaper.

fail post is fail. On a single core this may be true, but you don't buy a 6990 if you're just intending to use 1 core...
