I haven't bought any kind of monitor since the Samsung 2253BW 22" was standard

However I am now venturing into the TV market for my home bedroom

For a 12x16 room what size from 32-42" will allow for the most comfortable viewing?

Will a 32" suffice?

Is 1080p Really that important? or is 720p still provide a great picture?

What other features/specs should I look for?

I think it depend's a lot on what you are used to.I sit about 10 foot from my 57 inch.I will be getting a 55 inch soon,I thought about a 46 but couldn't bring myself to do it after watching a 57 inch in my main room for 8 year's.So if your not going to a smaller tv then you would be fine with a 32.Bigger is usually better not that HD is more common the picture look's good closer than it used too.

Here is a guide to size's.
