What kind of temps can I expect from this setup, if I do everything right...

Swiftech Apogee GTZ
Swiftech MCR240 + 2 medium speed Yate Loons
Swiftech MCRES Micro v2
D5 MCP 655 Pump
Danger Den Acetal Fillport
Distilled + PT Nuke + UV dye

I'm currently at 4.2GHz @ 1.31v with my Q9550.

Using the Xigmatek S1283 Dark Knight, my current temps are: 36 36 41 41 idle and about 72-74c load on the hottest core.

yeah MCR320 would have been better, but seems to me you have already ordered 240.

I was under the impression that the 240rad would be more than sufficient especially since it was a cpu only loop.

I will just play it by ear then and see what the temps actually are. If they are bad I will just upgrade to the MCR320.

Everything else in your setup is great, and if you are thinking of upgrading your rad later on
get one of these:

Black Ice GTX 360= work great with 80+ cfm fans.
Feser 360= work great with 60+ cfm fans.

lol all I know is the Feser is expensive lol!

But I bet it performs like no other lol

edit: the Feser is around 155.00 CAD + shipping and the MCR320 = 65 + shipping

I wonder how much better the Feser is.

DirectCanada has the lowest prices in Canada for watercooling parts.

Which rad is better

Is the Feser worth the price premium over the MCR320?

I would be using 3 Medium Speed Yate Loons with either RAD.

I also have to somehow figure out how i'm going to make a shroud or where to buy one from. I should prolly worry about all this when my order actually comes in

I would say maybe 55C (if you're lucky) to 65C is your temp range at load. I think the MCR320 only drops temp by 3-5C with same fans, not exactly sure.

Is it worth it? That depends on how much you want to add to the loop such as GPUs and NB/SB. For a quad only loop, I think the MCR320 will suffice.

You can just buy a couple extra Yates to use as shrouds. Gut them (fan blades, support legging things, and motor) so you only have the plain housing left and that's a good, cheap shroud.

So basically, you're saying that a 240 rad will be sufficient until I want to cool more?

Ok so this would be like fan stacking with two fans, only gutting the insides of the bottom fan?

I'm guessing I would have to head over to home hardware to get longer screws to support the rad, the shroud and the fans?

Nice voltage for that OC. My 9550 needs 1.35volts to hit 4.25ghz. With an xspc rx360 and ambients of 23c, my loop stabilizes at 56c in P95 small fft. With that 240 and the same ambient you'll prob have similar temps to me, +/- a few degrees.

I will try out the 240 and you know, if the temps aren't that great i'll buy a new rad, either the MCR320 or the Feser 360. I just dont think the Feser 360 is worth the money. That is, I'm not sure if it's worth the premium over the MCR320.

But then again, for 65+ shipping is it really worth it to get the MCR320 rad for a couple degrees less in temps?

Yes, the 220/320 should be enough for a CPU only loop.

Just gut the fans and have the actual fan in front of the shroud for push and behind it for pull.

I'd go with MCR320. For shrouds all you need to do is guts some cheap 120m fans.
