Okay, so I've been out of the GPU loop for a while. I'm going to be getting my 939 rig back up and running again hopefully. So what GPU should I go with? It will be on my main rig at first (not my sig.....the specs below), and then it will be retired into my HTPC build for HTPC / gaming on the TV use....again, specs below.

Main Rig Specs:
Opteron 165 @ 3.0GHz (in the future, if I can buy it back)
4GB Corsair XMS DDR400
A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Antec TruPower Trio 650w
Dell 17" CRT Monitor (for now, going to get a 26-28" LCD later)

HTPC Rig Specs:
Athlon X2 3800+ Manny @ 2.4GHz
2GB mixed DDR400 (4x512MB)
Jetway 939GT-4 SLI
Apevia 500w PSU (came in X-Master case)
1080p TV in the future, 540p TV for now or the 17" CRT

As you can see, it must be a somewhat low power card, so I don't kill the Apevia PSU. It also can't run too terribly hot considering it'll be going into an HTPC case with VERY little air circulation. But I would really like it to be as powerful or more powerful than an 8800GT. So suggestions?

Also, if you've got an extra $30 to throw on top get a 4890

Won't a 4890 just kill that poor Apevia PSU? And heat output...its going to retire in an HTPC.

...and offer lower performance than the 4890.

Yes, you mentioned that in your previous post. If you want to be objective in your suggestions, include both negatives and not only positives.

P.S : I am going to go play all those DX11 games I got .... hang on... Dirt 2 is not out yet ... and the other titles are still "under construction". DX 11 will become an issue when NVIDIA comes into play. ATI does not have the influence on the market. DX 11 is sort of like ... ATHLON 64. Came out in 2003 and ... 64 has been standardised when INTEL came out with EM64 which was later on. Don't drink the kool-aid ... not yet at least.

P.P.S : I got 2 XFX HD5870 XXX cards and those are DX11. You don't see me jumping in every thread ... GET THE 5 SERIES ... it has DX 11.

Well....you do realize that there's a huge negative to your 4890 suggestion. I'll bet it would KILL my Apevia PSU...my old 8800GT killed my first Apevia 500w PSU (completely different PSU, I have no idea what the build quality is in this one).

Does nobody know how to read English anymore? How in the world would I run a 5850 on an Apevia 500w PSU....for HTPC use, and not overheat the hell out of that entire rig? And on an Athlon X2 Manchester to boot....

EDIT:
I'm not saying that a 5850 is a bad card...I REALLY want one. But its just not practical for what I was asking.

if you want something that's great value and better than an 8800gt then go for a 5750. should be perfect for your needs. if you want something a little faster then a 5770 is an awesome deal as well

I'd slap a 5770 in there.

I've used an 8800GT / 8800GTS 512 in my Opteron rig before, and the CPU didn't hold either back one bit. Same with a HD4850.

I wish I could get ahold of an 8800GTX. Even though its not a super great card today....man that card is history and I would love to own one! I have to think about that Apevia PSU though. I think the 5750 might use less power than either of the options you chose.

Looks like you guys have made up my decision. Thanks!

The HD5770 only draws like 80w, so it would be a good choice.
