I stll havent been able to find out what kind of chips the GeiL Ultra Platinum 2x512 (not ultra X) PC3200 2 3 3 6 RAM kit uses... Please help!

It uses hynix chips. 2-3-3-6 at 230 FSB. 2.5-4-4-7 at 260+. Ram will safely take up to 3.1vdimm. Runs a bit hot aswell so put a fan on it. I have that ram.

Well the 3200 might, I have the 4000 so I guess it uses different chips and in that case I'd get the 4000 because CH5 isnt very good.

But my friend is giving me that RAM for free, and is sure beats my crappy Corsair ValueSelect.

So it looks like I'm gunna have to volt mod my motherboard in order for me to get the RAM running at <250MHz speeds, because I'm going to need like 3.4V, and my motherboard only runs up to 3.3v, because the RAM Vreg runs off the 3.3v rail (4v RAIL DIMM mod for my DFI LP NF3 250GB).

The older CH5 is bad, but the newer stuff (anything from the Mushkin Redline generation and on) is good. They usually do DDR500 2-2-2 at 3.3 volts.
