So I built this rig back in June of 2010, and it's been performing brilliantly since day one.
I've had a very strange issue however. There has been a random "click" every short bit of time (could be a minute, could be an hour) since the day I built it.

I've had this happen with 3 different hard drives (only one in at a time), I've had this issue with 2 different power supplies. I've had the issue with two GPUs, and two CPU heatsinks. I've even used two different cases with the same issue.

So far no changes have fixed this random "click" or "snap" sound.

So I'm starting to wonder just what it could be? I've used a digital multimeter on me motherboard to see if there is some kind of voltage fluctuation, but still the issue remains. No bulging caps either!

I'm not even entirely sure it's my PC anymore, but it always comes from the area that my rig is in.

So, OCN, what could the culprit be?

Does it happen when the system is off and unplugged from the wall outlet?

Motherboard is not warping. Could be fans, hard to say though after changing so much out including the case.
I have the internal speakers disabled in BIOS but I don't know if that would make a difference.

I couldn't tell you, since I am only ever in this room when the system is on and plugged in.
Though if it's worth mentioning, I have switched to a couple of different surge protectors at one point thinking that might be the issue.

So then shut it down, unplug it, and then wait for it to click.

I don't mean any offense, but what exactly would it prove if it clicked while unplugged? And what would cause it to click while unplugged?

If you still heard the noise while your rig is unplugged, then that would mean that it's not your rig. At that point, you would be able to suspect something else entirely. Or, you could rest assured that it's not anything in your system that's making this noise at which point you could just ignore it (unless it's distracting).
