hey just wondering whats the fastest cpu out their? just in general.. like just regular basis pc usage not for games n stuff.. like i know a fair bit about cpu's but their are some i have no clue about such as the prescott,triton,amd fx, pentium d's and stuff, share some light <img src="/images/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Stick out tounge caps" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="/images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />

Intel Core 2 Duo X6800.

For sure. X6800 is king. But QX6700 will be soon. The E6700 ES is ocing king though.

In australia, according to <a href="http://www.staticice.com" target="_blank">www.staticice.com</a>, IT Estate has em on sale for $1,300, but they are usually around the $1,500 mark.

Intel Xeon EM64T 3.8 Irwindale 3.8GHz is the fastest cpu you can get <br />
<br />
but the cpu which can do the most processes per given time length is the Intel Core 2 Duo X6800

um, Irwin dale is based on the old Netburst Architecture, so it is only the fastest by clock speed, and sucks at everything else. X6800 would beat the crap out of it.

The X6800 is the best to get.<br><br>
The QX6700 has Quad Cores, but a lower clock speed and the same architecture as the X6800. Thus, it is more beneficial for applications that use multiple cores, but in single core applications the X6800 will beat the QX6700.<br><br>
However, when you take overclocking into account, a E6700 might actually run as fast as an X6800 if you're lucky.
