For working on pc components, a soldering gun is usually a bit much. I use a soldering iron, the pencil style, and some real fine tips to go with it. Soldering guns get really hot and can easily damage components that you find on motherboards, videocards, etc. About the only time I break out one of those is for removing the occasional mosfet that wants to be difficult.

I totally agree.

100w for soldering small computer-related components is overkill.

It's also easier to use an iron. It feels natural, like holding a pencil.. I can't imagine being very precise with a.. gun.

It should also be cheaper.

That soldering gun is too much for general PC work, you need a zero voltage iron for soldering in chips and such. Which has fine tips.
Weller makes one.
Zero voltage is needed so that it will not fry the chip.

Edit: The Weller I had for many years was discontinued in 1999 (I'm old haha) But it is very good, the model was WCC100 I think.
