What do you do with your old retail cases??

So.. after swapping to my new case, I have this 2007+ HP media center case that I definitely will not be using for any reason. Do I just toss it??? I got the PC cheap from my old job anyway, so it won't be missed. But if there's something I can do with it I guess so it wont be wasted? Do people actually buy cases like this? Maybe ill just slap it on ebay or something

Thats a good Idea. Ebay it. Lots of modders use some of those company cases due to the size or sometimes just for looks. Get some pictures of it and post it on this link and you will probably find someone who wants it.

Sell it to a local PC repair shop. A guy bought a 250W OEM HP PSU I had lying around for 15 dollars. Better than nothing.

They sit in a pile in my garage until I have enough to make the trip to scrap them worth while. But if you can sell them to someone more power to you.

I just started collecting the junk...not on purpose though. Unused case accessories, old cases, keyboards, mice, optical drives, dead hard drives and sticks of ram from 5 years ago. and I just started doing this computer hobby stuff about 9 months ago...I'm still unsure how I managed to come across all this stuff.

I to suffer from this affliction, over the years it has metamorphosed from car parts to weapons and now a safer but no saner desire for computer parts

*glances around room* yes...its true. and i JUST ordered another Refurbished Armor+ case to destroy for the modding cause...cause you know...i need more parts than what is already lying around everywhere i look!

I would, but for some reason I can't let go of this thought that one day i could use everything...even down to the busted Hard Drives. Maybe use the platters as a mirror? Just in case there is a ninja stalking me or...angry girlfriend cause I'm currently ignoring her for this forum O_O;

Well I ended up tossing it on ebay and what do you know.. it sold within one day of listing it. I included a bunch of extras that came with the PC that I am no longer using. Surprisingly it sold for much more than I expected. Looks like i'll be upgrading my graphics sooner than I thought

Computer cases are recyclable. Check to see if you have a computer recycling organization near you.

I'm keeping mine so I can butcher it and practice modding on it, maybe make it look better for the parts that were in it (and are sitting all over my desk).
