What do you guys think about this i5 build?

Very simple.
I want your thoughts on getting this:

combo @ tiger direct, along with this:

Optical drive.
For a total of:
537.00 shipped.

My mom is letting me build a computer for christmas. It's going to be a family computer, and while I'd like to do some gaming on it, a high end video card is simply out of budget (which is ~$550). So after looking around and trying to piece together some of the cheapest builds possible, I've come up with this as the best bang/buck within my budget.
When I get a job, I'll buy a video card for it (probably a 5770 or something)
Keep in mind there will be no overclocking.

I would just like your guys thoughts on this. It seems like a really good deal, but with black friday being just a few days away, do you think I could build a better bang/buck rig?

Thanks in advance.

Well I figure if I won't be overclocking, there's no need for any special board with all these extra features. Chances are I'll never look at the bios more than once,

I have a spare graphics card lying around too. Forget to mention that, sorry.

i've heard bad things about tigerdirect and scamming (switch and bait).

there is also this barebones kit from the Egg, but it's slightly over budget
Not a great combo IMO, you could get better quality parts individually for a similar price.

Ninja Edit: Also if you happen to live near a Microcenter, an i5 750 is only $150

Yes. I agree. Buy parts seperate if you can.

If not doing any intense gaming and you want to go pentium id go core2duo or core2quad probaly socket 775 and save your self some cash that way and get similar performance. Throw in 4mbs of DDR2 and if youre a student call microsoft and get windows7 64bit for 30 dollars. Also make sure to get a good power supply absolutely dont cheap out on that. And a case with decent airflow.

I also prefer newegg as a vendor. They ship fast, and their customer service is very good.

That may be helpful.
Here are some excellent budget conscious suggestions:

Antec 300: $49.95 shipped
700w OCZ Modstream: $98 shipped + additional 10% off (and $30 rebate)
WD640 Black (32m cache): $75 shipped
4GB Corsair DDR3 1600: $94.99 shipped
Gigabyte P55M-UD2: $104.99 shipped

Getting the CPU / optical drive / cheap video card etc is going to put you over budget, but the quality of the parts FAR exceeds the junk from the Tiger Direct combo.

Another thing to consider would be a HSF for the i5, but since overclocking is not going to be done (sad face), then it's not really necessary.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll probably end up buying the recommended items. I'm actually just planning on upgrading the graphics card later down the road to a 5770 or 5870 (maybe gtx360?), whichever I can afford at the time of upgrading the GPU.
