Hm, I was looking at 1366 i7s. That would be why. I had an i7-950 on the list, along with an MSI X58 Pro-E. I'm definitely considering the X3340 now...

I honestly dont know if there is a difference and if so how much, but I myself just put together my new family PC using the X3440 a couple hours ago.

I tried overclocking it, but I'm not knowledgable with the new overclocking of the ix series so i just put in 1.25vcore and set it to 3.6Ghz and it ran fine, but i only have stock cooling so it was idling around 50C

If you're going intel and not 1366 the X3440 is the BEST CPU you can get in the 1156. There are higher clocked versions of it but its only $231.

I have a MSI X58 pro.Great board for a good price.I also have a MSI 890fxa-gd70.The I7 rig runs a 920 while the 890 rig runs a 965be.Both run great but the Intel board runs so much faster.I like your choices above but would recommend looking into the 1366 stuff again. You might pay a few extra bucks but it is well worth it.On a side note the I7 920's can put out some great ppd folding.
