Want to see how much memory a Terminal Server can use when it gets a little busy?

Yes, that is 8 gig of memory being allocated. It has a little more than a gig of RAM for paging, but thats all she's got, Jim.

Pentium Xeon x 4 @ 3Ghz, 4GB of RAM in 4 sticks. 2 x 160GB 15,000 RPM Wide Ultra3 SCSI (I think).

It hosts about 50-70 sessions. We're obviously going to have to add another one (Terminal Server) soon. Unless we move to 64 bit processing, we simply can't address more memory.

Its a terminal server. It usually has that many processes running. Think of Remote Desktop for Windows XP, except about 65 people remotely desktop onto ONE server. And they're all running applications on it.

Yep, good 'ole Server 2000 Standard. I keep telling my boss to add another, and jump on the Citrix active load balancing bandwagon, but he had a bad experience with Citrix once many, many moons ago so he won't consider it now.

I don't think I've ever had a TS run out of memory in a production environment. It'll be interesting to see what blows up.

Hmmm... we do have a Netapp FAS270 SAN. Not a bad idea. Need a location for the quorum drive, as you likely know.

Room is kinda smallish. I'd say about 14' x 14'. It has two racks - a two poster and a four poster. Obviously the four poster holds the UPSes and all the servers. The two poster holds patch panels, a few phone system thingies (I'm not the phone guy), and a couple of Cisco switches.

Almost all our servers are DL360 G3s from Compaq... erm, I mean HP.

We have two servers using iSCSI to get to our NetApp Storage Area Network (SAN). A Microsoft Exchange server and a Microsoft SQL server hosting our ERP.

We run, lets see, 9 servers I think.

1) Exchange
2) OWA
3) SQL
4) Domain controller / backup server (BEX)
5) Terminal Server
6) monitoring server (runs SolarWinds Orion; which I highly recommend)
7) Help desk / IT storage server / intranet via Sharepoint Service 3.0
8) Certificate Authority server
9) Microsoft ISA server for proxying / monitoring our users web surfing

To quote Scooby-do, "Ruh roh, Raggy!"...

I think she's gonna blow! 98% of virtual memory consumed and about 75% of physical. Nearly 60 users running over 400 processes.

And yet my Manager won't buy me another terminal server.
