What does ram voltage mean?

Im looking at some ram and one has 2.1 and the other has 2.2, the 2.1 costs $5 more so what does ram voltage mean and do?

It shows how much volt it needs to operate. Like CPUs have vcore.

the lower the voltage having lower timings gives more room for OC

are there any advantages or disadvantages for 2.2 or 2.1?

Yeah it's simply the voltage they operate at. If they run below it, your system might not be stable. Too far over the recommended voltage and you might fry them.

dude, if you don't have money for a decent c2d processor it doesnt mean that you have to go with pentium E5200....
search our forums for private sales and get something like e6600 at least

Not necessarily. Some ICs don't scale with voltage very well. Most of the 2x2GB kits don't.

The e5200 is a dual core and i can just OC to 4ghz.
