What gpu is needed to maxout games (not crysis) at 1024x768.

The processor will be x3 720.

Get a used 8800GT. It will be overkill at that resolution, but it will last you forever.

Ive never played bioshock so im not sure bout that.

Your options for 100$ that can max out fallout 3 and play crysis at very high without AA are:

Those cards are just about enough to even handle at 1440x900 or more so its no problem for lower res.

for 10/7 a 88gt 256 would be enough, maybe a 96gt 256 so a full blooded 512mb 88gt will be more than enough.

Your budget of $150 is really quite high if you only plan on gaming at that resolution.

Get a 4770.

I can max out Fallout 3 at 1680x1050 with some AA with the 8800GT. At your resolution you could probably add in more AA + AF

My vote goes for the 8800gts G92 or the ATI 4770. If you can $20 more, an ATI 5770 would be great since it has DX11. I game at 1280x768, and with the 8800gts, I can play pretty much all games on their highest settings. Crysis on high, I get around 35 fps

For that resolution - a 3850 or 3870 can be had for less than $40-$50 and can easily max it out.

Or find yourself a super cheap 8800/9800GT - or even the 4770. That resolution doesn't really do too much against most graphics cards.
