hey all i have an x800gto that oc's well but i want to run hdr and a little eye candy. my budget is about $170 so im looking at x1800gto, x1800gto2, and the x1900gt. which of these is the best value, especially if any of them allow to unlock pipes or have an easy mod.

The HIS X1900GT is a beast of an overclocker.

I don't know about unlocking pipes on the x1800gto's, but the GTO's are about the same price as the X1900GT, which like I said, overclocks like crazy and would probably do just as well as a stock X1900XT or XTX.

I think you should go with

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161029

It's about $30 more

I think it would do a lot better than the X1800GTO though, because of the much faster (1300 to 1000mhz) ram and faster core speeds. It also has a better heatsink.

What are you unlocking, they both have 16 pipes.

A X1800XT 512MB (read: X1800GTO2 unlocked) would beat a X1900GT though.

At 100% the fan on my X1900XT is very loud, but once my computer is idleing, the fan noise isn't bad I don't know how loud the HIS X1900GT cooler is, but the dual slot X18/900XT/XTX coolers are known to be loud.

The pipes. To a XT.

They may have pre-unlocked them, I know a few people got stock unlocked ones. So all you would have to do is OC and you have an XT. Up volts through software if you want.

The X1800GTO2 has 16 pipelines open, core/mem at 500/1000. The X1800XT with 512mb of ram has 16 pipelines, core/mem at 625/1500. The X1800GTO has 12 pipelines, core/mem at 500/1000. With the only X1800XT 512mb on newegg being over $500, and the X1800GTO's at $165. The X1900GT is $195 with 12 pipelines, core/mem at 500+/1300. I think the best deal out now for ATI is the HIS X1900GT

Prices could fall. Between those, buying the X1800GTO and a great aftermarket cooler so you can unlock the pipelines and overclock it a lot might be your best move.
