What is going on??

Hello all

Anyways I just got done overclocking my E6850 to 3.4 Ghz (not really an achievement, i will go higher though) so I decided to fire up 3DMark06 to see if I could beat my score (14,362). Well, to my surprise, I get around 12,684 marks!

So, then I decided to set everything back the way it was when I first got that high 3Dmark score (14,362). Again, to my surprise, I only get 11,432 marks!

My video cards (Dual 8800 GT's) were overclocked at 630 core each for of the 3Dmark scores I got. But I don't understand why I got such a low score all of a sudden.
It seems like I get half the FPS during the tests than I used to.

Temps are alright and everything, so I'm trying to figure out why my 3DMark score keeps changing.

Help please!

yes actually, for my 2 cards I download the new 195.62 drivers from Nvidia's website.

Do you think these are causing the performance drops?

If so should I uninstall them?
I bet Nvidia is just making their new cards look better

You should try some type of real-time benching on a game...and checking your average/minimum/maximum FPS instead of using 3DMark06. Try using 3DMark Vantage instead if you can for comparing results with different overclocks. Good luck with overclocking that chip...I'm sure you can push that to 4.0ghz with decent cooling as I was able to get my E6750 to 3.8ghz.

It could be that but the performance drop you are describing seems a lot for it to be driver issues. Make sure SLI is working correctly and verify if your cards are stable using ATItools artifact scanning test.
