I'm going to college in the fall. Because of this I am going to be looking for a laptop in the coming months. I want to start considering my options. Here's what I'm looking for:

1920x1080p
Best mobile CPU (I'm thinking this is an Intel i7 but since I don't know much about mobile computing I'll leave that up to you guys to decide)
Must have a good graphics capabilities (something around a 560M)
Overall good performance (for a laptop anyways)
No less than 8GB RAM

These are not necessary, but would be nice to have:

Large capacity HDD
Longest battery life I can get
Largest screen size I can get
Bluray Drive

See what you guys can find me. I'm looking at laptops on the egg so if you guys could point me towards one over there that would be very much appreciated.

EDIT: My budget may be able to go a little higher. I not sure at this point and I am just estimating a budget for right now.

The Sager with the 555m which has optimus so you can get up to 5 hours battery life. That can play any game out right now. Lenovo just showed the Y580 at CES. It has a 1080p screen and a 660m which I bet will have Optimus...might want to wait for that one.

But that Sager NP8130 w/ 560M is definitely my $1000 laptop of choice.

LOL...sorry OP but newegg doesn't often compete with xoticpc, malibal, or other clevo resellers if you want a good laptop. Plus you can get many of the same models from newegg on xoticpc and customize them so there's really no point to sticking with newegg unless you have some kind of gift card or discount you haven't mentioned.

LOL @ m11x. The trolls never stop. There are faster, lighter 13" laptops (read: Acer 3830TG) with the same graphics, for less money!

This.

Anyways OP, Ivy Bridge quads are going to bring ~400mhz clockspeed bump, and Nvidia *hopefully* will have high-end 28nm GPUs by then. By waiting for Kepler, you'll either be able to get GTX 560M performance or better, and Optimus graphics (currently there aren't any laptops under ~$1500 with Optimus and 560M or faster). Or, you could get 580M performance or better for 570M pricing, or cheaper. Tl;dr CPU and GPU die shrinks are coming, just wait.
