what is the best option ?

Hello,

I have 2 VelociRaptor 150GB in RAID0 and I'm thinking about upgrading that since I almost ran out of space
. So , I came up with these options :

1- Get 2 more (VelociRaptor 150GB) and one Seagate 1.5TB.
2- Get 4 Seagate 1.5TB (Raid0) and sell the old ones.
3- Get 5 WD 1TB (Raid0) and sell the old ones.
4- Get 2 SSD (Raid0), (2-3) Seagate 1.5TB(Raid0/1) and sell the old ones.

So, the question is what is the best option of these considering performance and price ?

Thank you

I would keep the VelociRaptors you have in RAID, only put apps and games on them.

then get a huge drive for data (pics, movies, music, etc.)
thank you newt111,
but is the performance of two VelociRaptor in Raid0 better than 4 Seagate 1.5TB or 5 WD 1TB in Raid0 ?
ask cyber druid, he's tried it all

Best bang for the buck IMO is the Samsung F1 1 TB for $99 at NewEg with free shipping. These drives are almost as fast as my Raptor 150s and are quiet and run pretty cool.

Run as many as you can afford in RAID5 and sell your other drives.
