not to bad but the thermal grease was ALL dried out and my core temp was idling around 37c at stock
I did the same. My CPU temps now idle at 26 C. It was a good 7 to 8 degree drop. I can't give you a gold star, but every degree drop of your temp translates into a more killer rig.

If you have a good heatsink chances are you will have two/four bolts you tighten down like this Thermaltake Big Typhoon

The clip on a stock one is just not made for a exposed die

Layer black electricians tape across 2 ends up to the top height of the die then trim off excess with a pair of scissors..

Most user feedback and reviews on Arctic 5 claim a 1 to 3 degree temp improvement - sometimes even more. Make sure you use a thin layer of it over the entire CPU or IHS surface you plan on contacting with your heatsink. Also good idea to clean as much as possible the connecting surfaces (with appropriate cleaning material) and lap the heatsink to a mirror shine.

There are also reports that the AS5 improves temps after a certain burn-in period as well.
