Dell. They have good laptop parts for the money. IBM makes very durable laptops but they are expensive. Just as I typed that last sentence (from my IBM laptop), my friend slammed down my screen to be funny. Still works. He dropped his from about 6 feet right onto the pavement. The battery blasted right out of the laptop. His still works too lol.

Sony and IBM have the lowest repair rates. IBM is tough as nails also.

I would like to add a simple question. What would the purpose of the laptop be? Gaming? Work? Extreme portability? You really have to answer that first before asking this question. For instance, IBM's are freaking RIGID. That makes them great travelers. Alienware, Sager, etc.. are freaking powerful, but they flex. Not good to be moving them around everywhere. That flexing will eventually kill them.

Just a though to add to the confusion

It all depends on the person. Vote on which brand you would pick for what you would use it for.

If money was no option, Alienware would be my pick. You could build a freaking monster system with them. Dell is a very close second, I have a C2D dell now, but The best GFX card option was a 7900gs. I would have preffered a 7900GTX, but had to buy an xps for $1.5k more for that. Dell is my pick.

If I had to pay for it, Dell. Greatest bang for the buck, Great battery life, Great case, Great warranty. But for "no budget" Alienware. Just becuase if looks cool, and you can flip a switch and turn on the dicetied graphics

Definitely Alienware if you want performance. But I am ambiguous when it gets to mobility because those high-end laptops will pwn the battery so soon.

Dell would be a nice one too. Just watch what you get. I would take Dell 2nd.

HP laptops would be pretty good. The newer models have pretty good reviews.

Acer laptops are also nice. My friend has one and it's good.

The batteries on the "titan's" are nothing more than a glorified UPS.

But one of the primary reasons for a laptop is portability. What will be the point if it dies in an hour?
