What nvidia card to get?

Hi, Im wondering what card I should get or cards. I wanna get a new graphics card for Xmas (there's no reason why not to shop early
) But my budget is $300. I don't know what to get ether GTX260 or 9800GTX SLI or just buy another 8800GT to go sli with my current one and save the money.

I don't know much about awesome cards, but I've heard the GTX 260 or 280 is one of the best cards anyone has used, but that's just what I've heard. I've heard multi-card setups aren't as great as single. I would get a GTX or that 9800GTX if it's better than the GTX but if I were you I'd look at benchmarks for those two and not do SLI.

Budget = GTX 260
Money no object = GTX 280

Note, the GTX 260 is just a hair slower then the GTX 280 - bang for buck!

Note, a second 8800GT for $99 in SLI will kill any game right now (that is what I have in fact). Do yourself a favor and save your money. By the time you need a new build to keep up with new games, the GTX 260/280 will be next gen.

That's true, I just have alot of money for Xmas and kinda just want the best. But saving money on the other hand is always good XD I don't know what i want for Xmas that why i want to upgrade my video card.

GTX 260 Core 216 is a great card. I just bought one. It smacks everything around. I have heard people complain about overheating but I personally have not had a problem and I had it running overclocked looping over 300 demo runs of Crysis on VERY HIGH settings. Take a look at this thread on how it overclocks.

The results in the thread are shown for Crysis on VERY HIGH.

Thanks for the link =) I just looked up benchmarks compaird from a SLI 9800 GTX+ and 8800GT SLI and a GTX260. from all the charts and graphs it looks like the 9800GTX SLI did slightly worse then the 8800GT SLI and the SLI 8800GT got about 15 to 20 fps better then a single GTX260. Tell me if im wrong if i am.

That's about right, so like I said save your money and SLI two 8800GT cards. Once you need a new system to keep up with future games, better cards then the GTX 260/280 will be introduced that will tare up the two 8800GT cards in SLI. Right now not much single card solutions can do that.

9800gtx sli is better than both 8800gt sli, and a single gtx 260. For a 22" screen, I'd probably get an older gtx260 (not the core 216) and save $35 there.
tri sli your 8800gt
8800gt's can be found around 100 now a days cant they?
or you can just get the 260 and not bother with sli at all

Get another 8800GT...better performance and less money, period. After that, just get a next gen card!

I wish they could tri SLI =( or i so would. GTX 260 is nice but for the price/performance it not worth it when i can just pay $100 for another 8800GT and save money and get better performance then the GTX260

I would but I don't want to pay for another motherboard just to go crossfire, while i already have a very nice SLI board.
