I finally got my rig up and running and OC'd somewhat last night. The CPU is stock atm but I upped the graphics card from 450/1200 to 490/1270 and idle at 35 C. It ran 100% stable for several hours of CoD2 at full settings. Pretty sweet huh? When I get home right now I'm gonna push for more I guess then run some 3D '03/'05 & AM3 benchmarks.

What are the rest of you guys hitting?

The most I got out of mine before ATi Tool's artifact detector went off was like 499/1384, but I run 490/1300 most of the time just because.

msi nx7800gt with my nv68 water blcok- luckily it fit, but i dont think these guys need water cooling unless you volt mod them, idle 31c, load 40c

heres some of the benches ive ran, the highest i could get it to pass the self test was 500/1280 but i would get artifacts in aquamark and while playing planetside

edit: sorry i thought you meant 7800gt

Sorry Trans, not trying to hijack your thread or anything, but this has been bothering me for the longest time. With my system overclocked as far as I run it 24/7 (2.8GHz on the CPU, RAM at 255MHz 3-3-3-8, and graphics card at 490/1375) I get a mere 94,000 in AM3... how the hell are all these other people, even with 7800GTs, getting into the 100,000 range?

hey yiffy make do you have the peg link turned up, mines at "faster" but at the lower settings it performed alot lower, if you rboard has that in it, i also have the pci express speed set to 110 but it doesnt really help to much maybe like 50-60 points in 3d05

Anyone using the 81.98 drivers? I OC'd to 500/1320 and tested the changes... it passed. So I rebooted and it went back to stock 450/1200. I tried it twice already, even though I checked the "please apply these settings at startup" box. I'm gonna go back to the 81.95s and see if they stay OC'd.

btw, I hit 75k completely stock in AM3.

Coolbits. It is weird, never happened with previous drivers. Time to switch 'em, brb.

hmmm now something's weird. I installed the 81.95s and it keeps resetting me back to 450/1200, what gives?

edit: I also re-ran the coolbits reg file.

Yeah that doesn't seem right, I have the 81.98 and it is working fine. Try using RivaTuner, it's what I use it let me go about 10-15 mhz higher on the core speed and about 100 mhz higher on the memory speed. But, I have no idea why it is resetting, it's never done that to me on any program I've used. This sounds stupid, lol, but just make sure you clicked keep settings on startup, and since you're using coolbits make you sure it's on manual overclock, and don't forget to click apply. But I'm sure you did that, so I'd try rivatuner.

Man, you just can't catch a break with video cards can you? I believe I'm using the 81.98s, and it's not resetting my overclocks...
I honestly haven't a clue what could be wrong if you've already tried different drivers and repatching Coolbits. Maybe try the release drivers.
(by the way, I scored 84,000 completely stock in AM3
)

MADMAX, yeah I have PEG link of fastest and long buffer so I dunno what's up... oh well, no other real complaints, the thing handles games really well at least.

Perfect timing. I went with the NGO 1.8195 drivers and all is well now... thank goodness.

I'm at 515/1320 and hit 8462 in 3d05, and 17560 in 3d03 with my CPU at stock. AM3 is weird though, I only hit 75k repeatedly. It benches the exact same stock or OC'd... and that's after reboots and new drivers... weird.

Time for some CoD2 to see how stable I am.

AM3 is more of a CPU benchmark than anything else now because it's so old and these cards are so fast. Nice overclock though, 500MHz core is like a holy grail of stock air cooling overclocking for 7800 series cards. I posted a little thread about it, mine runs fine at 499MHz, but goes to hell at 500MHz, and it's because in that 1MHz increase in overall core frequency, both the IOP and Sahder domains make like 40MHz jump, and one of those is causing the artfiacts. Thinking I might try that Thermalright fancy video card cooler since it cools almost as good as water and try a little voltmoddage.

I think some of you guys might have gotten some not so super batches

My XFX does 525/1340 stock cooler that I run 24/7, and max was 550/1380 with water and ramsinks from the original 490/1300. Volt mods would be good too

mine run great at 521/1.390 all day long. I have used the 81.95 whql and modded and the 81.98's without much difference. I'm trying the 82.12's now and they seem to be very stable. I'll oc it back up later and run some benchies. I'm folding 2 units right now at stock cpu speeds and they will finish later today.

Transonic...have you been running a driver cleaner between tries
?
