its reallly just a matter of money and What you want.. are we talking the same cores here Newcastle

if so they overclock about the same

and If you go mobile... dont get a DTR that is a desktop replacement and isnt a good overclocker at all ... it doesnt have the low voltage to start on which completely defeates the purpose

so basicly if you have the money and want to get a what .2ghz faster for say 50bucks more go right ahead

I would go with the 3400 because with the higher multiplier avaliable you wont depend so much on your ram/mem controller having to do all the overclocking work.

BTW, by 3400 I mean the 62Watt Mobile, or the DTR.

Negative, only Athlon 64 with unlocked multipliers is the Athlon 64 FX line.
Definately get teh 3400. 3400 NewCastles touch 2.7GHz no problem, and 3400 Mobile ClawHammers have been known to 2.8 and above in good configs with the right stepping.

All Desktop chips sold (except for the FXs and the 4000) are either NewCastle or Winchester cores with 512K of L2 Cache. All DTRs and True Mobile chips are CawHammer cores with 1MB of L2 Cache.
