What parts for $2,500 build?

I have $2,500 to build a PC right now. Intel CPU, i7 920 unless someone has a better suggestion . I'm not so sure what I can get with this, but if someone has some extra time on their hands, please help me compile a list of parts for this build totaling $2,500 (and perhaps a small margin over if it is completely necessary) Thanks.

You can get a kick ass system with that. Mine costed me about $2,300, specs in my sig.

I don't think a setup like that is possible with 2.5k. Plus, I have a corner desk, so I only have space for one monitor

My rig is probably a pretty good mainstream high-end build that should be around your budget. Just take out the speakers/sound card/monitors/tv.

My parts are still coming in, and i'm unknown on the clearance of the Noctua NH-D14 and 6GB G.Skill Perfect Storm. So you might want different heatsink or lower profile RAM.
what parts do you need?

the tower only, or the tower + monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc? and also, what will it be used for?

How much of that was actually TOWARD the monitor?

I've already decided on G19 keyboard and either a Razer mouse or G9x. For the monitor I'm thinking Samsung LED, but I'm not sure because it's 1080p. Would it be better if I got a 1200p monitor that is not LED? And, when looking for the parts of the tower, don't factor in monitor/keyboard/mouse. So 2,500 for tower I guess.

The monitor was $1300 alone. Worth every penny I might add. My speakers were over $2000.

Should be around ~2,500:
i7 920, 2x80 Intel X25-M SSDs for games/OS, 1TB Western Digital Black for storage, Rampage 2 Extreme, 1000W Corsair HX1000W, 6GB G.Skill Perfect Storm, and a 5970. Case would be your opinion. I love the Antec 1200.

Probably going to go above your budget if you need an OS.

Don't get a TV for your computer. Monitors are smaller, but have far superior quality when viewing at <4 feet. Go with a quality 24" 1920x1200 monitor, since 30" 2560x1600 is going to take half your budget.

G19 and G9x are what I own, they are amazing.

I need the build to be in a midsize case so it will fit where I want it to (height should be less than 20.5"). I'm thinking a Zalman GT1000 or Silverstone Ft01 case. Any other case suggestions, which is better, etc? Also, I don't know anything about air cooling, so what air cooler do I get and how will this fit into the midsize case? Will I have enough for a CPU only loop? Is it better if I just stick with air? Is there anything more efficient than air but able to fit in a midsize case?

Water cooling is getting near pointless. You can reach 4GHZ on the i7 920 with a good air cooler.

5970 most likely won't work in a mid tower case. Its 13.5 inches long. You might have to go with 2x 5870s.

i don't recommend putting a lot of money into things like a fancy keyboard or monitor. i would focus more on quality parts that are going into the system. look into ssd's. if you have 2500 to spend, ssd's should definately go into your build. get the latest and greatest gpu like a 5970 ati and an ample psu. 6gb of 2000mhz ram at the very least. i would NOT recommend getting anything more than a i7 920 for obvious reasons. get a nice big case so everything fits without a problem, don't go mid-size. you will thank me later.

Leaves $1050 for GPU, Case, Sound Card and whatever cooling options you take. This is pretty much top of the line parts.

I meant Samsung monitor. Is there much of a difference between 1080 and 1200 monitor? And could I possibly get by with just the 2 SSDs and no storage, since I usually keep my computer very organized and as light as possible?

So, if we are talking tower only...

80GB Intel G2 SSD x2 (if it's just for gaming, otherwise some 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blacks): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820167023
XFX 5850 Black Edition x2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150454
Silverstone FT01 Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811163121

That should be right around your budget, and a sweet rig. If you need peripherals, too, that's a whole different story. Also, maybe leave some money for better fans and some AS5 and stuff.

If you can keep all your data on 160GB, which I doubt it. Fills up very fast. You don't *NEED* SSDs. I mean you can just get 1TB hard drive and spend the $500 on something else.

1920x1080 is usually TVs, 1920x1200 is usually monitors. You want a monitor. Is monitor included in the $2500 budget? If so.. you will have to go with cheaper parts than I listed above.
