I know there used to be a program for Windows XP to setup monitors to have indidividual backgrounds, custom settings, applications to open in a certain monitor, etc.

What programs are their for Windows 7? I can't really remember the name of the one for XP, and it may be supported now.

Does Ultramon do the same or is that for taskbar only?

I use Ultramon, it works great. I have 1920x1200 on a 24" Samsung and 1818x1026 on my 32" TV. Oh, but I'm not sure about setting different backgrounds for each screen, I don't think Ultramon does that.

Dual View doesn't allow different backgrounds or extends the taskbar.

Can confirm Ultramon allows a different background each monitor, not sure if it's ultramon or windows but my setup saves where I use applications.

For example dragging Coretemp to the 2nd screen and closing it there, the next time it's opened it will open where it was last.
