I'm going to buy some RAM from newegg today to finish off a new build of a

e6600
Evga 680i mobo
Evga 8800gtx

Price is not to much of a concern buy getting the best bang for my buck is. In other words I don't want to throw $100-200 extra just to get a 2% gain over a $300 kit. so lets say no more than $350 for the kit.

OK Enterprise you are very well respected I trust you. even if you had another $50 to spend you would still buy this ram above anything else?

The RAM Ive shown would give you alot of headroom to play with for an overclock...Dont trust me fully Wiat for another opinion matey.
is there any need to go to 4gb of ram in this new system..I will just be a gaming system not any CAD ect

No Some Highend 2gb Kit will be fine.

4gb Is overkill ..Only need that if you run a server or Cad and graphial rendering.

Think i'm going to go with the The Crucial posted by ENTERPRISE but is it worth the cost to get 2 kits and run 4gb. I know on my asus when i ran 4gb it actuly slowed it down...a little.
ok cool! Thanks guys
4GB 4 x 1gb memory Modules can be stressful to run and utilize at any one time...Most likely for the cause of your slowdown...Good luck with your RAM.
is this something I should be looking for. - EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles) and also SLI certified - I do plan on doing sli 8800's at some point in the furture
No, EPP is just gimmick as is the whole "SLI certified" crap
You should get DDR2 800(PC2-6400) and about 2GB of it. Thats what I would do cuz i'm a gamer.
Why are people buying the eVGA i680?

If you want the i680 chipset, buy the Asus Striker. Its a far better overclocker.

The reason is that it is the only chipset that gets you ready for the future.

im sure if i put 2.3-2.35 into these sticks that they could do alot higher
