hi guys, i currently have a 1st gen phenom, 9550, now i ordered a 955 with C3 stepping, i have liquid cooling, and a good setup, got a good pump and its i think 1/2" tubing, all that stuff, but any how to the matter

what is the highest oc i should see that is stable? like i said, i have water cooling so heat is not a issue,

i have seen guys hitting 4.3 average with air???

but i am just curious, thanks!

U can expect about 4. That's the average. Plus I haven't seen anyone get to 4.3 and stable on air. That's actually pretty hard to get w/c unless u have a great chip

I have an H50 and I can get 4.0Ghz @1.450v stable, problem is the H50 isn't THAT good and I hit upwards of 62c under full load. So you should have no problem getting probably 4.2Ghz if temp is an issue I'd imagine.

Oh ya, my northbridge shoots up to like 55-56c at full load running at 2800Mhz @1.300v its pretty silly.
Thats not the the problem..

Its an MSI with AMD. Recipe for disaster according to many people here.

@OP, Should be able to hit 4GHz minimum and maybe 4.2-4.3 24/7.

Yup, well, back in its day, CPU's didn't have robust VRM requirements like they do now. Good luck

true true, but the mobo is i think 2 years old??, my bro has one thats like half a year old, paid 100$ and according to this 1 spread sheet, my mobo is fairly better then his still, so really one has to buy one thats probably atleast 200$ or more, and i dont plan on that,

i may in a year or so, redo my computer, being new mobo, new ram, and maybe a new cpu, but for now, i wont bother

the cpu is a cheap solution to unlocking my computers moreless true potential, my vid cards apparently doing about 1/2 its performance from benchmarks i have seen, my ram is running at 800 mhz because the 1st phenoms had a memory bug so i cannot run 1066, the ram is ddr2 1333 mhz or something like that,}

so i plan to overclock my fsb to "overclock" my ram although its not overclocking it in hopes to get it going faster, and it would be overclocking my cpu at the same time, anybody disagree with that? not sure if i can just overclock my ram with out touching the fsb, thanks

Is yours a C3 or C2 chip? Edit: Meh I just read the title, expect at least 4.2 imo, hope for 4.3 or better

I had a really nice 965, here are a few shots of it.

4.3 @ 1.5v

4050 @ 1.376v

I couldn't get my 965 stable without going over 1.55v at 4.4GHz, but I took my 1090T over 1.55 and it could handle 4.5GHz in LinX/Prime (12 hours) but it would die on my in [email protected]

hey bella, nice coverup of the intel wallpaper!, and yeah so far i guess its depending somewhat on mobo, but just if you get a good chip or a crappier chip, as i know some are stable at 3.2 but they arent as good of quality and may not do 4.0, but yeah alot of things come into the equashion

You should be ok with a C3.

Most C3 x4's hit 4GHz on air, with water you should be able to get another 300Mhz out of it. In the winter put your rad in the window and you can some more out of it. Phenom IIs love being cold, the colder you get them the better they clock.
