i have windows XP on one partition and windows Vista installed on another. I have a clean format and fresh installs on both partitions. I dont want to install the same games and applications on both OS's.. So im wondering:

what should i use Vista for? games? or apps? or both? for instance, im wondering if is hould install steam to windows XP or Vista? or Adobe photoshop CS.. or maybe my music production software such as fruity loops? and Nero? these are just some examples of some of the software i use

For gaming, Vista is pointless. I would wait for DX-10 and the official release of Vista, because beta + Microsoft just don't go hand and hand. I'm sure you would probably have driver issues, or it might work flawlessly. I would wait to use Vista, it's just too early. Internet browsing and word documents is all I would use Vista for.

yea for games is stupid, considering it uses about 512 MB. ram in idle, imagine playing crysis maked out with that thing, we're talking 4 gigs here.

prolly not. Vista is going to be more of a resource hog than mcafee and norton put together.

there has been talk of multiple cores running multiple threads simultaniously, and the games WERE supposed to runn efficiantly, but unless you can change the appearence to win98, its going to run slower.

and in other threads, Vista is supposed to have major compatibility issues that could be fixed if bill gates wasnt on a crusade against illigal software. he decided to make vista compatible with only windows aproved drivers, and a bunch of other idiotic implementations to keep haxzors and patchers down.

im not switching to vista.

i wonder if linix is able to use DX 10?

Vista I believe runs games 15% slower. There was a post on that in the news section.

vista = eye candy
eye candy = a demanding rig

If you qualify for the above, by all means go for it, but if not, don't.
