Right now my P4/531 is OC'ed to 3.8Ghz with a 257*15, and 1:1 514Mhz for my RAM, but the timing is on auto and set at 4.0-5-5-15, are there better settings? I was reading about looser setting but I wouldnt know where to start and dont wanna damage my 2x1GB PC-4300(533Mhz) sticks.

What are the stock timings for this kit of RAM (Check the specs of the manufacturer, or run CPU-Z and check the SPD tab)

266Mhz: 4.0-4-4-12-16
266Mhz: 5.0-4-4-12-16

Slot 3 (1024MB)
Seems like CPU-Z is a bit confused.

Seems like stock settings are 4-4-4-12 for this RAM.

You definately should be able to run those timings, since your speed is below stock. You might try somewhat tighter. It won't damage your rig; your rig simply will not boot if timings are too tight.

According to the specs below, they are 3-3-3-8

I would have said 4-4-4-12

I'll double-check elsewhere.

Yeah.. this site says 4-4-4

http://www.users.hu/termekek/2000055...+PC4200+533MHz

...maybe try 4-4-4-12 first. It seems to be a solid timing set for DDR2 RAM.

I would lower 12 to 10 and then run memtest if its stable keep going lower until memtest gives errors. After that raise it up one to stable, then move to the next timing. I have so far gone about 3 hours now getting my timings perfect. Its a long and boring process. I suggest you get a hold of a laptop and pass the time.
Worked just fine you guys are the best , how many full tests should I let memtest+ run?

Now I just need to figure out why I lost my option to StandBy/Hibernate recently since I started tweaking my system, I didnt add any new software but benchmarks like Aquamark 3, 3dmark05(06 wont run on my system) nothing else, and BIOS changed only in Advanced section and CPU configuration. Wrong place to be posting this I'll post this lata tmw..

Speaking of memory what should my virtual ram be set at? I've read wit 2GB to not use it at all but my system runs weird, right now it is set at 1024MB? Is that too much or is there another setting recommend?

I am doing just one pass for now, then I will let it run for a few hours after all said and done. I figure if its gonna error its gonna be right away as it has done in the past. But others have different methods.

So far I am at DDR483 with timings of 2-2-2-0!

That sounds ok for me. Some applications (photoshop, and a couple of games) require a page file, no matter how much RAM you have
