what would be a good step up?

even with 150 id buy a mother baord and save up for a new peosesor

If it doesn't support Phenom II's, I would suggest you sell your mobo, and get a cheap 780G / 785G board, and get a Phenom II dual or tri core.

Or you could go with like a Phenom 9850 / 9950...but its not going to be much better than your current CPU at all.

Sell the board and CPU(s), and replace both so you can use a Phenom II or Athlon II.

i play grand theft auto 4 so a dual core is a no go

maybe one of the cheaper quads? It sounds like overclocking will be a necessity then.
