What's 8800GTS G92 SLI Performance

I've Googled and searched the forums but I couldn't find any real answers.

I wanted to know what is the performance of 8800GTS G92 SLI? Are they compared to GTS 250 SLI? Also would a X2 7750+ @ 3.2Ghz bottleneck it? Lastly, I used an online PSU calculator and it said that my 500W PSU is fine for running 8800GTS G92 SLI w/ X2 7750 at 3.2Ghz.

that power supply might be cutting it close. i had 2 9600gt's and in sli they benched like mad, but if the games you are playing dont take advantage of sli then you will net minimal performance. the gts 250's will net better benches but i would imagine not by any kind of rediculous margin.
If we can assume that your 19" screen does 1440 x 900? Would SLI even be worth due to scaling with resolutions?

I thought about that but I'm wondering if I ran at 1440 x 900 could I run games at a higher settings compared to a game that I could've ran at 1920 x XXX

u telling me lolz, minus the mobo and monitor and psu,

the ram, cpu and gpu are virtualy identical (as long as u ignore the company name on the gpu) what ram u got there i got the 1066(overclocked 800)mhz hpc editions (cost more now then when i originaly bought them over 6 months ago)

Bought mine for $50 now they cost like $80. But they are 800Mhz. I overclocked the timings to 4-4-4-12 though. What settings do you play Crysis on?

SLI 8800GTS 512s scales like mad, with a 4.4ghz E8400 i got 15.8k with one card, and same CPU i got 20k with SLI.they are VERY strong for the price you pay when put into SLI, so they are about the same as a GTX 280 OCd.

So if I can get my CPU to 3.5Ghz possibly, then get a second 8800GTS 512MB I should be set until after next summer, right? (When I can start making summer mula
)

EDIT: If I get a second 8800GTS then I need to get a new motherboard. That would be $70 + However the price of the card (Most likely $75) and that means at least $140. For that price would a single 4870 be faster?

i dont play crysis, allthough i when i did i just maxed everything out and got like 12 min fps on a 1240x1024 res and max possibly 20-25 if that

i usualy just mix things up with medium to high with like 2xaa and 16xaf

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/...12mb/page9.asp

check that out... i would say that in sli they do scale quite mad... im tempted to get another my psu should definetly handle it... if only i could find another 8800gts512 for under £50 >.<

I'm still stuck.. I want the most performance but the thing is, is it worth it? I mean I can run all the games I have except Crysis maxed out. But I don't want to waste money if I don't need it. But I want ePeen!!!

My gpu score was 10,904 in Vantage with an e6750 @ 3.0ghz on my sig rig, with 1 card I only scored around 6k so they do scale pretty nicely. My average FPS in Cod4 with the settings maxed in 1680x1050 was 120ish fps. I don't think you're cpu would give you much of a bottle neck, I only gained 1k in vantage when I swapped to the q9550. I just sold one of my cards to my dad so I can't run 3dmark 06 to get a comparison score.. It's only been 3 days but I'm already missing the speed

Edit, guess I should change my sig since I no longer have SLI LOL! I'm not sure If I want to hold on to my remaining 8800gts for PhysX or go ATI.

crysis just isnt worth the effort for gaming in my oppinion, its great for being a benchmark tool though, i would love to be the first person to say that i ran crysis at 50fps min but that aint gonna happen, i cant even imagine any gpu ever to achieve this, the game is just coded too badly, i say it isnt worth getting another 8800gts, since u can virtualy play any other game out there perfectly fine unless u want that extra aa and beauty from a game

for epeen ill say either get 5870 xfire, 5850 xfire, or even the 5770's in xfire or 3 xfire xD or the gt300 series in sli (thats if they even neeed to be sli'd)

best to save your money and invest in the future instead of now and outdated hardware, especialy if dx11 actualy does as good as dx9

if u ever go ati, i would say hold onto the 8800 for the physX (yes its possible
) i plan on going ati if i get the cash and just have xfire and my 8800 for physX assuming ill need it for games like batman etc

I would have to agree with Gekz, if Crysis is all you're worried about just save up your money for a newer generation card. That is what I'm doinf but mainly because I'm planning on upgrading to a 26" monitor. Other wise my single 8800gts is fine for what I'm doing.

i think everyone wishes they never bought something from a year ago, cos of the tech that is of now and in the next 6 months, just dont wory about it, i wish i never botherd getting my 7750 when it was like £75 but thats life

i think im gonna sell my 8800 and go for a 5770 and eventualy xfire, looks like i can sell it and get a 5770 for less then £50 seems like a bargain to me

I'm going to wait and see how my 8800gts reacts to 1920x1200, I'm sure it'll be fine for a bit as long as I cut the AA back a lil. I really want to wait and see if Nvidia comes out with a reasonably priced response to the 5000 series but that doesn't seem likely.
