The 9600XT is the better card of the 2,I have one in another rig and it will play most games nicely and on medium settings for most like CS:S,HL2,Doom 3.

Just one more thing, will getting a 9600XT with 256MB make much difference compared to one that is 128MB?

The most important difference is that the XT has a temperature sensor, while the pro does not. Also the XT has higher default clocks.

well, imagine this, you have 1 cookie (128mbs),
what if you get a SECOND cookie, 128+128 = 256...so basically twice the performance and enjoyment

Ok! Thanks for all the info guys

Edit: Oh just one last thing, the 128MB is a GeCube one and the 256MB Is just a normal Radeon one, will that make any difference

Not really. It just allows it to support higher resolution.

Nothings bad about it. Just that doubling the RAM doesnt give you twice the performance. A 256MB 9600XT is only slightly faster than a 128MB 9600XT.

lets say your running 1280 1024 resolution on a 128mb card,,,its glitchy and laggy, then u get 256mb its nice a smooth, that is a much better card and u can basically say, its performing 2 times better. * not in every category *
