seems they scale incredibly in Vista...considering I had worse performance with Crossfire than a single with my older cards! I'm getting a x2900xt 1 Gb tonight. No more worries when I run high res, oh no sir!
TBH I wouldn't go with any of the mid teir solutions if you are wanting them for DX10. I would get two 2900xt 512s or two 8800GTS 640s
However, I haven't read too much about the 2600xt (xtx?)
For DX9 they will PWN for sure.
Hey it's all good man! I'd say that you should wait until the X38 to get true Crossfire: 16x/16x support with PCI-E2.0. HOwever, these will be pretty expensive. Hell I may buy one when they come out, so maybe you could snatch up my board then! That will be a while though....
the 680i mobos are nothing to sneeze at, but I think that the P35 outperforms them on the CPU/memory side of things.
However, they currently have 16x/16x SLI instead of the 8x/8x or in my case 16x/4x Crossfire.
Another thing is that the second PCI-E 4X slot runs through the ICH9 chipset (southbridge) instead of both on the northbridge. I guess ATI implemented some magical drivers, as reflected to CD's score.
