I've heard very conflicting reports about the performance of Software-Crossfire as sported by the 1900GT...
Some that say it LOWERS
performance.

I wouldn't mind a second 1900GT for ATi Physics or just plain old Softfire... a few months down the line.

But its still ~£100 I'd rather spend on other tweeks if its not worth it.

Reports? reviews? comparrisons to Hardfire?

Cheers.

The reviews you have most likely read show confusing results regarding "softfire" vs "hardfire". The bandwidth limitations of the PCI-E slots come into play with running dongle-less masterless crossfire, but not that much.

In order to run "hardfire", an X1900XT Master card must be used, which gives the setup an inherent performance advantage (besides the dongle) than the masterless setup.

A "softfire" setup is a compromise between price and performance.
