hey,

i just purchased the parts for my new pc. they are

xfx Geforce 7800 gt <gpu
ultra x2 connect 550 watt <psu
Asus a8n Sli Premium <mobo
Corsair XMS 1gb (2x512) TWINX1024-3200C2 <memory
and the Athlon 64 x2 3800+

i have a 120 mm case fan, and 2 80 mm case fans, along with whatever the stock heatsink/fan is with a retail 64 x2 processor.
If i follow the guides on this site, what overclock should i try to aim for.

thanks

With a stock heatsink, you won't expect much.

Maybe, 2.4ish with the stock HSF.
aim for the max you can get...lol over 2.4-2.6ghz i would say with good cooling... just keep a close eye on your temps (@ load) and you will be fine. good luck
thanks,

wow that was crazy fast responses. it was almost as fast as instant messaging. i go back to the homepage, and i already see that there are responses!!

i think you can do 2.6 or even higher on air, depends on layout of cables in case (organize cables to it is ergonomic (lots of space) AND THERMAL PASTE
SPEND A FEW BUCKS FOR THE GOOD STUFF.......Arctic Silver 5
thermal paste only $5, amazing cooling, can drop temps by 10-15C cause it uses silver to dissipate heat.
search it on newegg or froogle
EDIT:ill stretch that to 2.8, but thats a bit of a stretch...remember always be patient, and go in increments when ocing

the only way you will see a 10-15 degree drop is if you werent using ANY paste before you applied it.... maybe if you lapp the cpu and heatsink and apply the as5 you will see a drop like that...
but yes cable management helps a little....

isnt the 3800+ 2.4 to start with, you'll prolly get 2.8, i just got my HP 3800+ X2 to 2.3, anyway good luck.
