use the latest version, or the next in line, or what. They have little comments next to versions with fixes that none apply to me.

Is that after you updated? If not then I would definitely go with the latest BIOS revision--they are inclusive, meaning (as far as I know) they each include the previous fixes and improvements.

If you started locking after the flash it is possible you may have corrupted the BIOS. In that case I am not sure there is a good fix short of a successful reflash of the BIOS
