Where are firefox bookmarks?

Howdy,

Windows Drive BSOD, did a ram swap, having fun backing up now...

All I need to literally backup, aside from files (I know where they ALL are, etc etc, i'm ok).

All I need, is the Firefox bookmarks backed up WITHOUT the export from firefox..

I can load a LIVE linux of ubuntu, 12.10 64bit. No hassle there.. I can access all drives clean, NO bad sectors, just a BOTCHED windows update...

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to backup bookmarks WITHOUT the export option of firefox?

Thanks!

I believe that Firefox's bookmarks are stored in "C:\Users\{logon name}\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\{profilename}\places.sqlite". Another thing: If you simply want to preserve everything from your old Firefox, just copy the contents of the old profile folder to the new one. All settings, plugins, extensions and so on should be preserved if you do that.

Nice! Just found it, last thing I had to backup prior to final rebuild of pc again, even had to buy new ram (upgrade from 12-24 was barely $5 diff). So far looking at a fresh build, better updates, and nightly installed again. Will update bookmarks shortly!

If you don't mind elaborating, or clarifying. Would basically copying old onto new, "fudge" it so to speak? Separate from direct import of bookmark backups?

Grunion was basically saying not to copy the profile folder itself (that's the one with random characters for its name), but to copy the contents of the old profile folder to the new profile folder and overwrite the existing files. And he's right because the name of the profile folder you're importing will be different, and Firefox will most likely ignore a profile folder that it didn't put there. I have totally replaced the contents of the profile folders twice now, and it hasn't messed anything up. You're welcome to make a backup copy of your new profile folder, and then overwrite the contents of the new one with the old one. Then if you have any problems, just restore the backup copy.
