WHQL means nothing mate.
Just that it was digitally signed by Microsoft.
Zero difference in the driver itself.Originally Posted by d-block;13017616

And you don't need a modded .inf for NVIDIA's beta's, just for Quadro's and stuff.Originally Posted by d-block;13017616
I shouldn't have to go through various drivers in beta form with a modded inf to work properly.
There is a difference. I have significantly lower frames in crysis 2 with the latest beta. I am using 267.84, same version as you.Originally Posted by SlackerITGuy;13017766

WHQL just means that it was digitally signed by Microsoft.
But if you really want to wait for the WHQL ones, be my guest. They're gonna be the exact same as the Beta ones =), just 2 weeks late.
And you don't need a modded .inf for NVIDIA's beta's, just for Quadro's and stuff.
That's got nothing to do with the latest driver set not being WHQL.Originally Posted by d-block;13017906

With 270.51 crysis 2 has a strobe light effect and when it's not doing that my frames are nearly 30 fewer than with 267.84. It is obvious that these are different from the 270.51.
Dude, if NVIDIA releases the 270.51 set as WHQL a couple of weeks later, that doesn't mean they've done some extra tunning/optimizations on it.Originally Posted by d-block;13017906
So who is to say which will be the final, whql driver? So yes, there is a difference.
I was talking about Beta's for all cards, of course you'll need a modded .inf for drivers released exclusively for other cards.Originally Posted by d-block;13017906
And as for the quadro only comment, that is wrong. They drivers in your sig are not quadro, they are geforce that came out for one of the newer 500 series cards.

We're talking about completely different drivers here (different branches as well - R265 vs R270).
Maybe your rig doesn't get along with the 270.51s?.
Have you tried re-installing?

Quite the contrary, just that WHQL certification takes about a couple of weeks to go through.
Now, if you're comparing different driver builds, that's a whole another story.

It's not like they appear under GTX 470 when looking for new drivers.
There's a reason for that.
Beta drivers are provided by NVIDIA as preview releases for quick bug fixes and access to new features. Beta drivers are under qualification testing, and may include significant issues. It is the end user's responsibility to protect system and data when using Beta drivers with NVIDIA products. It is strongly recommended that end users back up all the data prior to using Beta drivers from this site. Please ensure that newer Recommended/Certified drivers are not already posted on NVIDIA.com prior to installation and usage of Beta drivers. Beta drivers posted do not carry any warranties nor support services.
So.... yeah."Windows Hardware Quality Labs testing or WHQL Testing is a testing process which involves running a series of tests on third-party (i.e. non-Microsoft) hardware or software, and then submitting the log files from these tests to Microsoft for review. The procedure may also include Microsoft running their own tests on a wide range of equipment, like different hardware and different Microsoft Windows editions."
Looks to me like that quote says that it is sent to Microsoft for testing, which then must be approved after said testing.Originally Posted by SlackerITGuy;13018677
Also from NVIDIA.com:
So.... yeah.
There's no difference mate.
Either way, this looks like it's going nowhere, just wait for the WHQL then, we'll be enjoying exactly the same set a couple of weeks earlier =).
And just an FYI, the worst NVIDIA driver of all time was WHQL certified.
Because nvidia has been lacking in the driver department, IMO. You hear all the time about how much better the nvidia drivers are than the competition, but in my experience it is the other way around. Not everyone has the same results and experiences, of course. I just feel that nvidia hasn't been on the ball.Originally Posted by 2thAche;13018769
And you need a new WHQL driver because? Bored?
Dude still doesn't get that WHQL certification is meaningless lololol.Originally Posted by 2thAche;13018769

So you're saying that there is absolutely no difference whatsoever between WHQL and that they are exactly the same in every way?Originally Posted by SlackerITGuy;13019045
