which board for the i5 2500k

so, i've waited for bulldozer for 6 months and now its a complete failure. the i5 is 40 euros cheaper aswell, so i want to give intel a try. i'm going to use my rig for gaming, with an amd 6950 TFIII, and the i5 seems to be better at gaming overall than the fx-8150. i want a sturdy and good overclocking board, like the asus sabertooth 990fx, which i'd have chosen if i were to go for amd. i want it to at least have 2 pci-e2.0 ports, 1 internal usb3.0 and a black or red pcb

i love my Asus P8p67 pro, great price, and great product, the bios is sweet for overclocking also. You might as well get the z68 edition, since its newer, but that is my vote. great great board.

hate the black/blue style

i'd love black/black or black/red^^ its still the second most popular board in my country when you go for socket 1155, and there must be a reason for that^^ http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/cat/834/socket-1155-moederborden.html

how about the asrock p67 extreme4 gen3 at the top? its 30 euros cheaper, and its black themed. whats the difference between p67 and z68 btw?

Im liking my asrock extreme3 so far. had it for a couple days now(like u waited for BD but...you know) It doesnt have the external usb 3.0 header though, the extreme4 does but its way more expensive

If you like a black/black scheme on a motherboard check out any of the Gigabyte's numbered UD3 or higher.

I personally have the Z68-UD3H-B3

I haven't even bothered to overclock on it, but if you want something a little beefier the UD4 has 16 power phases, which I think is around double what the UD3H has.

I love my P8P67 Pro as well. I have the Rev 3.1 and its given me no issues. 16+2 power phase I believe. Got me to 5.2ghz no problem, didn't go any higher because my air cooling holds me back. The z68 boards offer ssd caching. Asrock has been stepping it up as late as well.

bulldozer performed badly on asus & gigabyte boards but they performed nicely on asrock & msi boards so you can go wit amd,
but if you want to try intel get asrock z68 extreme4 gen3/gigabyte z68x ud4,these are great boards.

Yeah, people are starting alot of these everyday. Same question each time.

I think people should try and do a little research for themselves and look at one of the many threads started about this subject.

With Z68 u can use SB integrated gfx and with this mobo u get pci-e 3 ready when new gfx come

yeah but i mean what the difference is between extreme 3 and 4. is the build quality different? power phases, and thus overclockability? the extreme 3 z68 is only 116 euros, and has 2 pci-e slots. the extreme4 is p67 and has 3 pci-e slots and is 140 euros. would the extreme 3 be the better choice, since i will never put in more than 2 cards?

I'd go for Z68, because it can make SSD go really fast. And another thing, P67 boards are cheaper gaming performance is negligible compared to Z68. My local store didn't have Asus P8P67 Pro on stock and they couldn't get more of them, so I decided to go with GA-Z68XP-UD3P. The price between those two were minimal.

You mean you can increase a standard HDD's performance by using the SSD as caching?

The Z68 allows SSD caching and the use of the iGPU for low-power graphics and transcoding.

The P67's in my eyes are more of a performance board in my mind since they don't use the iGPU at all, it doesn't even get power. This should translate to lower temps.

Yes, I messed that one up, I meant to say "make HDD go really fast" but I had the word SSD in my head, then I just wrote SSD.
