Just want an answer and an explanation of why that build is superior.

Build 1:

Core i7 920
Asus P6T Deluxe
G.skill 12GB (6x2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) 8-8-8-21 1.65v
Raidmax hybrid 2 730w

Build 2:
Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition
Asus M4A79T Deluxe
OCZ Flex XLC 4GB (4 x 1GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) 6-6-6-18 2.05v
OCZ OCZ700MXSP 700W

Well the Intel build will be faster and have triple the amount ram if thats what you need but its also going to cost a little over $200 more. IMO just get a single 6GB kit for the i7 build and go with it.
both builds could be made a lot better but if i HAD to choose one of those exact builds i would take the AMD
AMD if on budget, Intel if you want more power.
The Phenom II 940 only has a DDR2 memory controller in it so --- no DDR3 for that build.
that 940be is not capable of ddr3 yet. you'll have to wait till april.

go for the i7 if you don't mind spending extra $100+. but the ph2 is a smarter choice if gaming is your main purpose.
the i7 will definately be more powerful, but will cost more.

i also second the vote on getting a 6gb kit (3x2gb). much cheaper and 12gb is way more than necessary.

and get a different PSU, most people will tell u not to buy the raidmax. get a corsair 750tx

i still vote for the i7.

if u want AMD, wait till all the AM3 stuff is out.

Well my mind is made up going with the i7 thanks for the help.
great! cant wait to see it together. keep us updated
That i7 build of yours isn't going to last very long with a raidmax PSU.

Those things are junk.

I agree-- dump that thing for something of a little higher quality.

Core i7 build, but definitely get a new PSU, like the Corsair CMPSU-1000HX 1000W PSU...if you got the money.
guess ill repost my suggestion lol

get a corsair 750tx - $99 after rebate

better than raidmax, easy on wallet (for the quality)
