Which case for a HD 5970?

Hi,

what is a good case for a 12.2in (310mm) long Radeon HD 5970? I'd much prefer a silent case if there is any.

Thanks

I would vouch for my own case.
I wouldn't see a problem putting that card into a Antec 1200 case.

And this case is super quiet too.
fits in a panzerbox, nice and compact case

Even on low this case is far from "super" quiet IMO, it's 5x 120mm fans and a huge fan on top. I have mine set to high and it's basically a turbine, though the difference between low and high doesn't seem to be that much. Maybe 30% quieter? The noise doesn't bother me though, I have a friend that always complains about the computer noise, even when its on low, though.

Either way it's an amazing case... and your computer won't be quiet with a 5970 inside of it. The card itself is going to very loud under load might as well drown it out with a somewhat loud case.

maybe your side fan is loud, or your cooler fans.

I am really picky to have my PC really quiet and even lowered my 4870x2 volts through it's bios to have a lower fan speed.

thats quite sad dude, a rig is suppose to run at good performance right? Atleast i want my rig running to its best ability.. Go with a HAF or a Lian-Li.. Can always change the case fans but i see it as a waste..
Perfect in a 1200 case.
Fits in My thermaltake Armor+ Full ATX

Heres some Pic's

Coolermaster Storm Sniper, HAF922/932 and ATC 840 will all fit this card with some room to spare ~2" clearance to the cages.
It'll fit in a P180 Mini

I'd go with the HAF or ATC 840. You really don't need to be worrying about a silent case, as the fan on the GPU will be far louder than any case fans that come with a quality case.
The Thermaltake Armor, Antec 1200, and the HAF are all very well-built, reasonably priced, and roomy cases for a monster graphics card like a 5970

Oh and they all don't look half that bad either

are you talking to me and about my 4870x2? If so, undervolted doesn't mean underclocked.

My 4870x2 is undervolted with stock clocks so I can have my fan running @ lower rpm's and still keep my 4870x2 cool.

If you don't need as much volts, why leave it there, save on power with less heat to deal with right?

I'm sure any decent/popular Full ATX case can handle a card like that. My case should have no problem.

Doubt it, my 260's have about an inch and a half of room to the HDD bays....
