yo guys

I made a thread about this earlier if i should wait for the 7xxx series to release so the 5xx series from nvidia would drop prices but they didnt..
So, I'm playing on 1680x1050. I play bf3 mainly and I would like to know will a 580 run it on ultra and never dropping below 60fps?
I might upgrade to a 27 later also. SO, should I get a 580 or Should I get a 7970? Is the price difference worth it for my resolution? I'm not realy for AMD neither so...
What Id like the most is waiting for nvidia to bring their new series out, But I dont want to wait like another 4-5 months.. So Should I get a 580? Or maybe a 570?

Thanks !

DO you want the best? if so get the 7970. do you want the cheaper one. get the 580. a 580 wont be able to get 60fps at all time on ultra. two of them will.

I Would say maybe catch some one selling a pair of 570s or 580s in the for sale. But I run a single 570 and it is a beast. The new 7 series will probably be awesume. But really down to earth here it boild down to performance and how much $ you have and want to throw down. The 570 would last you a long time and keep you happy. Having said that DX 11 is around the corner, And you will be ready .

Check what owners are saying about it at the egg might help ya.

A 580 today with your currently resolution should be able to max out BF3 on ultra with 60 FPS. If and when you go to 1920x1080, it may not. Since the price difference is minimal, I would get a 7970. If you look on OCN, there are some decent deals on 580s used to save a little money, or you can wait for their price to drop. If you want instant gratification now, just order a 7970.

1680 X 1050?
Heck a 6870 could almost max BF3 with many/most of the goodies on at that resolution.

That resolution does make it easier though.

I posted a link to the review, it shows 1920 X 1200 and 2560 X 1600 on ultra settings, also displaying GTX 580 SLi.

1680x1050 on a 6950 gives a min fps of 35. What are you talking about:doh:

You might want to post up WHAT 27" monitor you are looking at. Cause you are probably looking at either 1920x1200, 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 depending on the model. Which will help them out suggesting a card you want.

I don't know yet which one. But it would be 1920x1080 or 1920x1200.
