Alright so I posted a thread before about the batch numbers but now I got the actual batch numbers on these chips. Was wondering if you guys could help me decided which i7-970 to buy from the choices I have listed. Which would best for overclocking or the better processor from them all.

1) 3012B113

2) 3012B129

3) 3012B122

4) 3016B246

Did you google the batch numbers? They probably all perform the same since the batch numbers are close except for the last one. I would google them and see what comes up.

I think the lower the number(last 3 digits) the closest to the center of the wafer meaning better binned chip thus better overclocking. I could be wrong though, this is what I have read from others.

Can't seem to find anything on these batches, some say the 129 is better where others say the 113 is better due to lower numbers.

Want to decide between the 3012b113 and 3012b129. Not sure which to buy from those two.

I know they are all pretty good but I prefer just picking one which has gotten higher overclocks before as I have a choice to choose from the batch I want. So I narrowed it down to two batches, 3012b113 and 3012b129. People say 3012b129 is better and other say 3012b113 is better due to lower numbers at the end.

Are you upgrading from your 950? That's an awesome CPU, why not just wait till Ivy?

The batch doesn't make much of a difference without the vcore. The stock vcore does. Unfortunately, the vcore varies so it's hard to guess which one overclocks better.

Yes I'm upgrading from the i7-950 to i7-970. Reason for the upgrade is because I wanna have something good which would last me another 3 years. Funny thing is I never got to open my i7-950, just placed it on ebay last night.

So that means that my 950 came almost from the center!?!

I always had a good feeling about this chip.

How much voltage does she need for 4.0 Ghz?

TBH, I went from 4.32 to 4.21 and didn't notice any difference in terms of speed. I'd rather go with the lowest vcore possible... but that's just me though.

BTW, since we're posting about batch number, mine is 3014B195. Anyone with a similar batch number?
