Would you rather have 2 slightly OC'd 7800 GT's in SLI as my sig describes (OC'd to 460/1.10) or 1 ATI X1900XT OC'd to XTX territory?

100% for gaming purposes. With no other history here, which is preferable in your mind.

I'd take the 7800GTs, as I don't really like ATI. Then again, my experiences have been with the RAGE Mobility and the RADEON 7000. However, those cards ruined my opinion of ATI forever. I also think that the ATI cards are way overpriced.
although the 2 gt's will beat the 1900 at anything, im not a fan of having to have 2 cards in a system just yet, so i would settle for just a few fps less....
x1900xtx is a beast, and really a good card, id choose x1900xtx...
ive seen somewhere that ONE 7800gtx gets like 15 more FPS than the x1900xt(not XTX) but it might be wrong. id say go with the... 1 7900gtx, yes i know its not out yet, but il will be soon, and it will own, and it will spank your mother.

Do you get your information from Teen Beat? lol

Id say ATI because you could then put it in crossfire later on. =]

Have you had any problems with those BFG 7800 GT's? I have had a ton with mine and am finally sending it back RMA. My eVGA is perfect. Not so much with the BFG. I am just hoping it was a glitch and it will be fine once I get my new one.

I would say the X1900 simply because that card really kicks some serious &*^^ plus you can crossfire that and would devastate 2 7800 gt's in SLI
Yeah, well crossfire is a hoax IMO. You pay a ridiculous amount for the master cards, and all the wiring is external. Plus, it has even more compatability problems than SLI did when that first came out. Also, it doesn't support 2048x1536, which SLI does.
I'd go with the dual 7800GTs for multiple reasons...

1) Perfomance - dual 7800GTs would slightly edge out the XT1900XT

2) Cost - dual eVGA 7800GTs ($255 each, after rebate) are cheaper than the XT1900XT (approx $550)

3) Coolness - SLI is just awesome.

Plus, I'm an nVidia fanboy.

SLI isn't all it's cracked up to be. Look at how SLI actually loses to a single of the same model in AOE3. Not to mention buying an overpriced motherboard and a beefier power supply. SLI and Crossfire are still a ways out from being practical.

From what I have seen, a single x1900 XTX beats 2 SLIed 7800GTs.

THe real reason I ask is I had been plagued by the infamous nv4_disp.dll BSOD's with my setup. I build the system for gaming only and I get this crap. Ugh!

Anyway, I have been a huge ATI fanboy until this last round that was won by NVidia, but it seems that ATI has fired a strong shot across the bow with their X1900 XT line. I am particularly intrigued how all of those shader pixels can be used for physics applications, as well.

This was meant to see if I should just buckle down a while longer and see if I can't find a workaround, or just cutbait and jump to the X1900 XT. I am shipping the BFG back to them RMA, and am hoping that might fix it. I have never had driver problems with ATI like I am having with NVidia right now, and I have tried them all - the certifieds, the betas from guru3d and driverheaven.net - they all solve nothing.
