I've spent the last 2 week configuring my i7 build and calculating my budget. Today I tried for fun to see what could I get if I go AMD. I really need your advice

RAM: G.Skill 1600 DDR3 6GB KIT (175$)
HDD: Western Digital Black 640GB: (86$)
CASE: Antec 900: 114.77$(128$)
HSF: Scythe Mugen 2 45$
Case Fan: Antec TriCool: 17$ (20$)
Monitor: VH222H (200$)
DVD-DRIVE: LG 22x (36$)

total: 2009$ including taxes

versus

AMD Build:

CPU: Amd Phenom II X4 955 (234$) [email protected]
MOBO: Crosshair III Formula (245$)
VIDEO: GTX 295 1792MB 896-bit (655$)

DVD-DRIVE: LG 22x (36$)

total: 2023$ including taxes

So few question here. Which system will give me a better gaming right out of the box? What about upgradeability? I will play crysis in 1680x1050, all other games max out at 1920x1080. Thanks a lot.

BTW: plz don't says my part are expensive, they're particular reason for this, thank you

Seems pretty clear cut: The first system.
The intel/ATI rig for sure, DX11, strong CPU and nice triple channel memory. You can even crossfire when a single HD5870 is to slow for you (which I can't imagine anyways
).

first rig... cheaper, i7 is better clock for clock and better ovreclocker... Triple channel memory (I mean if its there take it)

But honestly... the parts for the computer are way too expensive. You can easily cut a couple hundred by building it urself.

I dont see why you have to pay more for the same parts for any reason
I would guess out of the box the AMD system probably wins the majority of the gaming benchmarks simply because the GTX295 out performs the 5780 by a small margin.

But I would definately take the first rig, the additional 2gb of memory will be beneficial in all uses + easy upgrade to CrossfireX.

I am assuming the Corsair HX750 could not handle (2x) GTX295 running in SLI.

all these parts are in CDN$.

Then that would explain it

Wait, isnt the CN dollar worth more than the US dollar or is it just that electronics are more expensive other there?
