I presume by the X1800 this is going to be a mainly gaming rig?
When do you see your next upgrade after this one?

With the X1800XT costing £279.95 from the site you're using, your only left with £70.05/$120 (USD). But the mobo costs you £129.95; so you need more before we can help really. But unless you're really just trying to go top of the line, their is no real reason for gaming to get anything more than a AMD64 Athlon 3700+. I currently use an AMD64 3200+ Venice and run all my games with the highest resolution that doesn't look funny, and the highest graphics without lag (and I'm only using a 6600GT with a Shadow Card). Im running HL2:CSS, BF:2, and NFS:MW. If the £350 is JUST for the CPU then go with a AMD Opteron 175 Denmark 1GHz FSB 2MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor (if you're not worried about spending all the money.)

Use that for specs, it's better detailed. Yes it has dual cored support. And the opteron I showed you is DEFINENTALLY the best bang for your bucks. The next up from it is in the $700's ($602 was your limit.)

They're cheaper and clock better than the parts that are priced higher than them, AMD got smart and discontinued them, so get one soon if you're getting it. They run smoothe as buns and stay at cool temps.

well i have found out that they have an extra 1mb cache but run at the same speed as the 4400+x2, hmm to me AMD seem to have made a big mistake really by makin 2 processors almost identical but the better one being cheaper. soo if i were to get an operton 175, the dfi mobo and the x1800xt 512mb will these 3 component run well with my other components in my comp?
