I am soon going to get a Q9550 with an Asus P5Q-SE Motherboard.

My question is will a Corsair VX550W PSU be enough with a XFX HD4850? If not should I rather get a Cooler Master eXtreme Power RP-650-PCAR?

I've got a extremely tight budget and I do not wish to crossfire in the future (and I cant) but I do wish to overclock.

Thank you

Yes the 550VX will more than handle that setup

Your Corsair 550W is just enough to handle the 4850.

I think you're way overestimating the power use. A corsair 550 can run 2 4850s easily.
A friend of mine has his 4870 on a 450W Dell psu and it works just fine

That 550w can run 2 of those 4850's, a quad, all OCed, and multiple hard drives. You picked a great PSU.
I'm willing to bet it's better than that Cooler Master 650w
