Ok so I just put together an athlon 7750 in an ASUS M3A78-t with 8 gigs of 1066. Aparently you cant do that with AM2+ (the 7750).

SO I'm trying to decide if I should use 4 gigs of 1066 (single channel) or get 8 Gigs of 800?

This will be used for gaming as well as some Maya 2009 and other such applications.

HELP I want to get this done today!

If you get good 800, it can easily overclock to 1066. And why is the 1066 single channel? I don't get it

Because with AM2+, 1066 ram can only run in single channel... supposedly... Maybe its just this ASUS board? Seems to be a real thing though, I didn't make it up, but I can confirm that it does indeed not work with 4 DIMMs of 1066...

I am using 4x2. ASUS, Newegg, and quite a few others warn about using 1066 in dual channel with AM2+. might just be the asus board, I don't know. All I know is that I have narrowed down my options to 4gig 1066, or 8gig 800 DC mode.

I would just get the 1066 2x2gb kit and run in dual channel Im using less then 50% of my ram in most games save the 60bucks and buy something else.
Im using http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146785 they over clock weel and are rock solid. the 1066 will run in dual channel with only 2 sticks will run 800mhz with 4 sticks
