Which Should I buy?

536 Views 16 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Shift.
I'm about to depart with my current rig and start from scratch. The ONE concern that I have.. is that I haven't chosen what video card I should purchase...

Opinions please?

I'm partial to Nvidia....And the 8800 GT has served me well.

I'm a heavy Gamer.. and can't stand playing on less than the highest graphics settings possible. I know that the video card alone doesn't pull the weight.. but you get my point.

^_^ Anyone have any recommendations?

Hmm, with $1000 for a setup, I would recommend the GTX 260 with 216 stream processors, as someone else mentioned. It has a good price and will perform well.

If you need something a bit cheaper, I would get a 4870 1Gb version. It's a good card and it's not low end, so you shouldn't have any problems.

If you can afford to spend a bit more, the GTX 285 is a great option too.

You have no need at all for two 285's. In the near future there probably won't be anything that would require that much muscle. I'd stick with the 260, but make sure if it isn't the one I linked, it should be 55nm and have 216 stream processors.
