OCZ Vertex 60GB - $220 after MIR

Patriot Extreme Torx 60GB - $250 after MIR

Kensington V-series 128GB - $250 after MIR

Dane Electric 80GB (1st gen Intel) - $200

My intended purpose is really just a couple games and windows
I will have a 1.5TB internal for media and such.

I'm open to other suggestions, but I really do prefer to shop locally as I have a few things to return anyway.

I'd get the ocz vertex..

They seem to have the best firmware and what not: they are really fast too.
None of the above. For now stick with Intel X-25M with TRIM firmware. Intel currently has the best controller architecture.

This, put my X25-M in 2 days ago, huuuge increase in performance! Intel all the way!

Vertex all the way. Very good SSD thus far. I have the 30gb model, so a 60gb model will be even better!
I have the 30GB Vertex and that thing is quick! The vertex drives have been shipping with firmware version 1.4 that includes trim! Go for the Vertex!
I'll look into the x25-m
looks like about $250/shipped for 80-gigs. Right in my range and the extra 20-gigs would be helful

Please make sure you get a gen2, should have G2 in the name. That way you will be able to get the TRIM firmware updates.

all you have to do is look at real world performance tests to know how good the Intel's are. The random write speed of intel's are so much higher than any of the other consumer SSD's available now. Random writes are what you will do the most if you do alot of installations, unraring, zipping, etc. Look at some benchmarks and peoples opinion of performance who actually have the drive, like me. Intel is the way to go if you have the cash.
